In 2011, 713.0 million children were enrolled worldwide in primary education compared to 689.0 million in 2006. In North America, the US is the largest hub of students and generate large amount of education expenditures worldwide. In the US, higher education alone generated USD 453.7 billion of revenue in 2011.

Over the last five years, developing countries have increased their share of the world’s total number of internet users from 44% in 2006 to 62% in 2011. The percentage of individuals using internet in the developed world reached the 70% landmark by the end of year 2011. In the last six years, the global E-learning market has registered a CAGR of 4.7% (2006-2011). It is expected that by 2016, the market will reach to USD ~ billion, registering an expected CAGR of 6.68%.
